The first anniversary of the Internet Association of
Vietnam Veterans of Korea (IAVVK) was celebrated in Seoul, Korea on 15 October
2002. I was very fortunate and very honored to have been one of two
American Vietnam veterans invited to attend this anniversary, reunion and
celebration. It was an even greater honor to meet Gen. (Ret) Chae Myung
Shin, former Commanding Officer of all ROK forces in Vietnam and the many Korean
veterans attending the celebration.

It was a great honor to receive this plaque, commemorating our visit to Korea as
Vietnam veteran comrades of the Korean veterans, from the former Commander ROK
Forces, Vietnam, Gen. (Ret) Chae Myung Shin.
Here I am seated next to Gen. (Ret) Han Kwang Duk, one of the heroes of the
Battle of Duc Co. Gen. Han impressed my fellow Vietnam veteran and I as a
real soldier's soldier. Anyone of any army would be proud to serve under
his command.
To my right are Mr. Chang Young Dal, Member of the National Assembly and
Chairman of the National Defense Committee, and Gen. Chae Myung Shin.
As part of the celebration we were asked to say some words to the assembled
veterans. Here I am giving my speech, which was translated into Korean.
In this photo I am waiting for the Mr. Chung Jae Sung to finish reading a
paragraph in Korean. Read My Speech
Mr. Joseph (Joe) Francis Nawrozki and me. Joe worked with Tiger Division
infantrymen in Vietnam. He first learned Tae Kwon Do from his Korean
comrades there and is now a 5th Degree Black Belt and teaching master in
Baltimore.
